The Clerics and Albs have managed to maintain, upgrade and expand pre-cataclysm industries. The Berserkers have purposefully regressed to a medieval tech base and use traditional craftmaking to manufacture relatively simple equipment. Apocalyptic Logistics: The only faction that actively bases its infrastructure, economy and tech on looting pre-cataclysm ruins are the Outlaws. The other factions, the Clerics especially, are working hard impose their vision of order on the wasteland. Apocalypse Anarchy: The Outlaws would like to play this straight. You can even kill quest important characters just by accidentally leading an aggro'ed monster to them. You do get a 'history will be altered' warning when you do so. Anyone Can Die: You can kill just about any character, even plot important ones.Always Chaotic Evil: Reavers, who are pretty much outlaws of the the Outlaws, which should tell you everything you need to know. They often appear next to Forlorn enemies, who are mutated humans, so perhaps trolls are humans who suffered a similar fate. They are smart enough to make crappy clothes for themselves, but don't build or make anything else. All Trolls Are Different: How exactly Magalan's trolls came to be isn't discussed, but they're huge and covered in fungal growths. After the End: The game takes place after a meteor strike caused civilization on Magalan to collapse.Meanwhile, the Berserkers are the first faction you meet, have the largest number of sidequests in their home city, their leader is central to the main plot, and both Jax and his brother Kallax were born into their faction before being kidnapped by the albs. Advertised Extra: Ultimately, the Clerics and Outlaws have little impact on the plot outside two story-relevant companions being from the latter faction and a single story quest from both.He then proceeds to reclaim his tile of one of the most dangerous and influential individuals in all of Magalan. Action Survivor: Jax starts the game getting his jet fighter shot down, shot in the chest and tossed off a cliff.Ranged doesnt really interest me, i think i'm good with Calaan's Light and Sorrowbringer, but i'm thinking about joining the Albs and either go for that Cleric Regent armor and those 2 skills, or modding the Elexetor armor instead of Commander armor and staying with the Albs.A sequel was officially announced at E3 2021 and released on March 1, 2022. If you don't max your rank with them - then your only option is doing what they suggest above and random their guards, hoping for a relevant weapon. Same for the Morkons - you are very unlikely to get Enhanced Leadpreader / Enhanced Bloodsplatterer unless you're Destroyer with them. This means most likely the only way of obtaining the enhanced version of said weapon is sticking with Albs until the end.įor the purposes of the Albs vs Clerics choice - Albs are actually superior, even if only due to Enhanced version of Albs laser rifle being better to the Clerics one. The fact is gear merchants sell not only ranked armor, but also tiered weapons, relevant to the faction.Īs Alb Commander, you can buy "normal" version of Plasma Cannon Mk2 as well as a couple damaged ones. Originally posted by Speedy:So who's right? Which means the only thing you'd be missing from your original faction is their best armor. Works similarly for Berserker faction-hopping to Outlaws. So you would be Alb Trooper AND Cleric Regent - you would get to learn Cleric skills AND learn Alb skills AND get to keep all the Alb skills you already learned. This is nice, as you can buy the best armor right away, but also not nice - as you don't get even a single lousy quest with a new faction after joining.ģ) Technically and story-wise you still stay a part of your previous faction, but you are limited to the 2nd rank there. So don't keep your hopes up.Ģ) You join minors at level 30 in fact, as the max rank. You would expect Eva or Vivian to somehow comment on that at least - but nope. Your joining is ever acknowledged by the grand total of 2 (two!) NPC, one of which teaches faction skills and another one sells Regent armor. You don't get anything like that with the Clerics. When you make Paladin, everyone in the Fort will comment on that or ask something from you - and it felt very heartwarming and immersive, like I got to feel I "made it" in the community. Berserkers experience gives you a lot of decent NPC to interact with, a sense of progression and a sense of achievement. I just joined Clerics myself, so some things I wanna point out:ġ) Clerics are not nearly as fleshed out as Berserkers are. Yeah, Fire Rain really makes the game trivial, I see where you're coming from.
